Extreme Green Outdoor Public Art Competition
With a recognized desire for more public art in our area, Southern Vermont Arts and Media News Group are calling on Southern Vermont artists, professional designers, and architects to submit proposals to design, create and install a public art project.
The competition is focused on projects that utilize “green” building materials; showcase alternative energy sources; demonstrate ease of recycling; and educate viewers about making our homes and lives healthier and easier on the environment.
Ecospheres and small-scale homes (doll-house size), outdoor sculptures, terrariums, tree houses, and other innovative living structures are of particular interest. We are looking primarily for large works, although smaller pieces will also be reviewed. Extreme design, whimsy, and playfulness are all encouraged.
A preview of project proposals will take place in the fall of 2009. A touring exhibition, auction of entries and temporary and permanent installations will take place in 2010 and beyond. Entrants are asked to submit up to three entries.
